BLCI has long recognized that underserved communities, especially those of color, suffer from a disproportional lack of access to preventative health care and educational and economic opportunities. The recent pandemic has starkly exposed these weaknesses and the underlying and chronic unfairness of this reality.
Breaking the cycle of poverty with all its attendant evils continues to be BLCI’s mission. Changing the trajectory of our students lives via their obtainment of college degrees addresses the core problem of lack of opportunity and creates economic empowerment.
